He served at the Council of Economic Advisers in 1983-84 and 1996-99; as CEA Member in the CLINTON ADMINISTRATION, Frankel’s responsibilities included international economics, macroeconomics, and the environment. Before coming to Harvard in 1999, he was Professor of Economics at the University of California at Berkeley.

The following interview with REVEREND CHRISTIE WEBB, Mount Olive Lutheran Church, and MAYOR PHIL BROCK, SANTA MONICA was conducted in September 2024 by Havah, Slingshot Talkshow Host. The homelessness crisis in Santa Monica (California) is at a record high, with a significant increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness, primarily driven by a severe shortage of affordable housing, rapidly rising rents, and limited access to support services. Rev. Webb points out that homeless individuals often have a significant need for spiritual guidance and Mayor Brock confirms that far too many Californians experience homelessness because they cannot afford housing.
