OCTOBER 26, 1823

“America, North and South, has a set of interests distinct from those of Europe, and peculiarly her own. She should therefore have a system of her own, separate and apart from Europe. Its object is to introduce and to establish the American System, of keeping out of our land all foreign powers, of never permitting those of Europe to intermeddle with the affairs of our Nations. It is to maintain our own principle, not to depart from it. I could honestly therefore join in declaration proposed that we aim not the acquisition of any of those possessions, that we will not stand in the way of any amicable arrangement between them and the mother country, but that we will oppose with all our means, the forcible interposition of any other power, as auxiliary, stipendiary, or under any other form or pretext and most essentially their transfer to any power by conquest, cession, or acquisition in any other way. I add the assurance of my constant and affectionate friendship and respect.”

President Thomas Jefferson’s letter to President James Monroe

PRESIDENT JEFFERSON: THE FATHER OF AMERICAN ARCHAEOLOGY: Thomas Jefferson is widely considered the first North American archaeologist, as he conducted one of the first documented scientific excavations of a Native American burial mound in Virginia, which set a precedent for systematic archaeological practices in the United States; this is why he is often called the “Father of American Archaeology.”.

EDITORIAL OPINION January 2025

Even if someone has made mistakes in the past, we should still believe that they have the capacity to grow and become better people, essentially giving them the opportunity to change their behavior and choices in the future. This House wishes ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR. a successful and prosperous term as the HEALTH SECRETARY.

“Sweet Caroline” By Neil Diamond: “Too Little, Too Late.”

A Song for Robert Kennedy Jr. “Sweet Caroline, Good times never seemed so good. I’ve been inclined To believe they never would, oh, no, no”

“Kennedy said he wants to reduce the use of artificial food dyes and promote the consumption of whole foods, while still letting Americans make their own decisions for their personal diet.” USA Today, 1/29/2025 (e.g. Ban food dyes and promote organic foods!)

Neil Diamond’s song “Sweet Caroline” was inspired by a childhood photo of Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. However, Diamond has also said that the song was originally about his then-wife, Marcia Murphey.

KUDOS TO MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA

DEAR KAMALA HARRIS, some of the greatest mothers in the world don’t have children of their own. You don’t have to have kids to be a “great mother”.

“This House admires Mother Teresa for her dedication to helping the poor and sick and for her message of love and compassion. MOTHER TERESA helped many children through her work with the Missionaries of Charity, a religious order she founded in India in 1950. The order operated orphanages, schools, and other facilities for children in need.”

POPULATION GROWTH AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection is based on the idea that organisms produce more offspring than can survive, leading to a “struggle for existence” where only those with advantageous traits are likely to survive and reproduce, passing on their beneficial traits to the next generation; essentially, animals making more babies than they can care for is a key principle in his theory of natural selection. Many animals mate for life, including prairie voles, bald eagles, gibbons, albatrosses, beavers, black vultures, Sandhill cranes, and seahorses.” (Pair-bonding for life (monogamy) is considered one of the best mating strategies for both parents and offspring.)

FACT-CHECKING AND REAL-TIME OPINION

How many puppies can a dog produce in a lifetime? Circa 10 litters+ in her lifetime. Theoretically, a cat could have 30 litters+ in one lifetime. A female chimpanzee will typically have an average of 6-8 offspring throughout her lifetime. One study estimated a woman can have around 15 pregnancies in a lifetime. For the record, “Not only are women more likely to be mothers than in the past, but they are having more children. Overall, women have 2.07 children during their lives on average – up from 1.86 in 2006, the lowest number on record.” (Pew Research Center)

A SOCIETY BASED ON MORAL/ETHICAL/HEALTHY PRINCIPLES WOULDN’T PRODUCE THIS KIND OF *ANOMALY* OR TURN THEIR BACKS ON THEM (*SEE BELOW*) STREET CHILDREN: ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY

“While street children undoubtedly need financial support to meet basic needs like food and shelter, the core issue behind their situation is often a lack of loving and supportive parents, meaning their most crucial need is a stable, caring family environment.”

It’s great (and noble) to have a large brood, but think of ways of helping street children. Start off with your own neck-of-the woods! “Family is not an important thing, it’s everything.” Poverty cannot stand alone as the only reason behind the phenomenon of Street Children. “There are two main causes of the phenomenon of street children. The first is the economic stress and poor conditions that families face due to industrialization and urbanization. The second cause is changes in the traditional family structure, especially when women became the main contributor to households’ economies (Patel, 1990; Le Roux and Smith, 1998; Lugalla and Mbwambo, 1999).”

DONALD J. TRUMP – THE SLASH-AND-BURN POLICY (2025)

What is slash-and-burn farming? A comparison: “Slash-and-burn agriculture can be considered “good” for the soil in the short term because the burning process releases nutrients from the vegetation, creating a layer of ash that acts as a temporary fertilizer, making the soil fertile for a short period; however, this practice is not sustainable in the long run as it depletes soil nutrients over time and can cause significant environmental damage.

EDITORIAL OPINION January 2025 (The Good-Neighbor Policy, President Franklin Roosevelt)

U.S. relations with Mexico

U.S. NEW ADMINISTRATION (2025-2028):

MEXICO’S SECESSION MONETARY REPARATION IS OVERDUE

The United States bought a portion of Mexico ‘dirt-cheap’ and under questionable circumstances. Monetary reparations could be a way of addressing non-diplomatic (via military means) territorial expansion (e.g. The Mexican-American War, 1846-1848).

Abraham Lincoln strongly opposed the Mexican-American War, calling it ‘unnecessary’ and ‘unconstitutionally commenced’, famously introducing the ‘Spot Resolutions’ in Congress demanding proof from President Polk that Mexico had actually shed American blood on American soil, as Polk claimed to justify the war’s start.

Ulysses S. Grant considered the Mexican-American War to be ‘one of the most unjust ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation’, expressing strong disapproval of the war in his memoirs, where he criticized the U.S. government’s actions in provoking the conflict with Mexico. The Louisiana Purchase cost the United States $15 million in 1803. This purchase added 828,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River to the United States (Thomas Jefferson bought Louisiana from Napoleon Bonaparte).

The Gadsden Purchase, or Treaty, was an agreement between the United States and Mexico, finalized in 1854, in which the United States agreed to pay Mexico $10 million for a 29,670 square mile portion of Mexico (California) that later became part of Arizona and New Mexico.

FACT-CHECKING AND REAL-TIME OPINION: U.S. A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS

Not all immigrants are created equal, though all deserve equal opportunity. In the Americas, we are “all” immigrants because the American Continent was “settled” by *Native Americans* (*The peoples of the Asian Continent who crossed the Beringia Corridor*). The prehistoric archaeological record indicates that North America was “settled” by the *Clovis People* — That’s, Native Americans.

“Archeologists have amassed considerable evidence of a population of humans who lived in North America beginning more than 13,000 years ago. Researchers dubbed this the Clovis Culture because of the distinctive spear points and other stone tools first found near Clovis, New Mexico, in the 1920s.” (hhmi.org)

EDITORIAL OPINION – December 2024 (Canada’s Political Transition)

Proposition & Opposition: PM Justin Trudeau: Take the long run. Although the ‘Super-PACs’ (the opposition) are right behind you – We’ve got your back!

“WHY CAN’T JUSTIN TRUDEAU BE OUR PRESIDENT?”

Laws in the U.S. change through a process involving Congress, the President, and the Public. (Trudeau’s) Dream job, next exit: “Why can’t Justin Trudeau be our President?” Bonus reading: JUSTIN TRUDEAU MAY BE THE WORLD’S MOST SUCCESSFUL PROGRESSIVE LEADER.

JUSTIN TRUDEAU (AND CANADA’S) NEXT CHAPTER (LEGACY)

LET’S FACE IT: MOST MEN JUST DON’T TRUST WOMEN BUT JUSTIN TRUDEAU TRUSTED THEM TO HELP HIM LEAD THE COUNTRY

(A paradigm shift for women is overdue). Hopefully, in a future matriarchal society, women’s mindset will also improve for women are sometimes able to invoke both sexist stereotypes and feminist ideals (Men cannot be solely blamed for the objectification of women). And this much is true: by actively behaving in ways that demonstrate self-respect, you as a woman are more like to cultivate genuine friendships and a genuine sense of self-worth. Ultimately, this path may help women to ‘earn back’ their respect, as their actions will be aligned with their internal values — So they may project a positive self-image to others and themselves.

(FORMER FINANCE MINISTER) THE HONORABLE CHRYSTIA FREELAND:

WHO MIGHT REPLACE TRUDEAU AS LIBERAL PARTY LEADER?

We just don’t know how to say this diplomatically so we’ll just say it – essentially, (it appears) Chrystia Freeland sought to become like Trudeau without a mandate (A mandate is the authority given to a representative by the electorate).

“I am a feminist” (PM, Justin Trudeau)

PIERRE POILIEVRE: IT’S SHOWTIME

********

The Jordan Peterson Podcast: Interesting interview, though we prefer a more detached and pragmatic (non-leading questions) interview style. “Dr. Peterson seems too comfy with the interviewee – not a good idea” (This appears to be another patriarchy series though it doesn’t have to be this way).

Pierre Poilievre: Conservative Party Leader, Canada / Jordan Peterson: Psychologist/Political Scientist

“And so your vision, it sounds to me, is to at minimum restore that social contract so that young people who are interested in adopting ….” J Peterson (OPINION: Before you listen to this interview, read the actual “Social Contract” written by Jean-Jacques Rousseau – A book recommendation for Peterson and Poilievre — Well, no, it is not the devilish Marx. It is “Ancient Societies” by Anthropologist Henry Lewis Morgan. Marx read HL Morgan and took “serious notes” on this – Later on, Engels would expand these notes into “The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State).

“And it’s personal for me. I don’t come from a privileged or wealthy background. I was adopted by school teachers and grew up in a normal suburban neighborhood. We didn’t always have money, but I was able to get here. And my wife’s the same story. She came here with nothing and she’s had a great life.” (Poilievre) OPINION: A fallacy – Although the comparative method is faulty (e.g. the assumption that politicians, in general, follow a uniform path), it may be argued that, surely, JFK was rich – and good-looking – but “these attributes/traits” may have helped to qualify him for the office (He was the “Camelot” and brought back the glamour/hope to the U.S. during the Post-WWII Reconstruction/Depression Era). JFK went on to become one of the most accomplished Presidents of the United States of America.
